Your Keys to Using the Library
Check Outs, Renewals, and Holds
The following information was pre-COVID. These procedures might look a little different when we reopen this school year. We will update them when we have a complete plan. Students may check out up to three books or magazines at a time. Materials are due back in three weeks. You may renew one item for one additional week. Students may place books on hold using Destiny. Homeroom teachers will distribute a hold notice when your book is ready for check out. Bring your hold notice to the circulation desk in order to check out the book you placed on hold. Renewals and Overdue Books Library books that were left at school when we shut down in the spring (in lockers and/or classrooms) have been returned to the library and checked in. Books that were returned to school during the closing have also been checked in. Books that were returned to other schools (elementary schools, etc.) have not gotten back to us yet and so they haven't been checked in, but will be soon! Computer generated overdue email notices will be sent out again soon. Please return library books as soon as possible. There are no fines for overdue books, however, we ask that you please be considerate of other patrons and return library items by their due dates. Computer generated overdue notices will be emailed to students and parents often so that you will be aware of late, or lost, items. Please remember, consistently returning library materials late will impact your check out privileges! Students who fail to return materials in a timely manner will be restricted to checking out only one item at a time! Please be responsible for your library materials! |
Lost/Damaged Books
Lost (books not returned within six weeks) and damaged books are fined at the book's current replacement cost. If you have paid for a lost book and then find the book, money paid will be refunded. You may take several weeks to look for a lost book before paying for it. Please call or write me to let me know that you are trying to locate missing items. Occasionally school library items are accidentally returned to a public library. You must make the effort to get them back. If a page falls out of a book or magazine, please send it back to me to be mended. As long as it can be repaired for continued circulation there will be no charge.
